Only four sides can still boast perfect records after week five of the mighty Kall Kwik Harrogate Squash League.
Harrogate 1 are the first of the proud quartet, sitting handsomely atop Division 1 after winning away at Adel 1, thanks to another win from Kiwi wonderkid Jackson Beresford and Olly Hotchkiss' fifth win of the season at No.3 string. John Plowman's win at No.2 for Adel turned out to be just a consolation.
Chapel Allerton 1 are in second place; veteran Randolph Victor thrashing Harlow 1's Steve Smith and the redoubtable Declan Christie winning at No.1, although Richard Leonard won a thriller over Chapel A's Ross Williamson at No.2
Just behind Chapel A 1 in third are Chapel A 2 who didn't play this week, while bottom side Aireborough lost for the fifth time in a row, 12-0 to Chapel A 3.
While Harrogate 1 dominate Division One, Harrogate 2 are taking charge of Division 2, winning a close game with winless Chapel Allerton 6 thanks to victories for Paul Ryan and Peter Hotchkiss.
Collingham 2 won their fourth match in a row to go second and Otley 2 are now in third, handsomely taking care of Adel 2 by 12-2. Chapel Allerton 5 - who led the table a fortnight ago - have dropped like a stone, partially thanks to the non-availability of No.1 Tim 'The Flake' Manuel.
The second team to have won all five of their opening contests are Adel 3 - leaders of Division Three. They clinched a very tight contest with Ilkley 2 thanks to Kevin Jackson and David Gifford in what was a very late finish.
Chapel Allerton 7 are the third 'perfect' side, but amazingly are only third as four of their five wins have only been 2-1. That was the scoreline again this week, with Lloyd Palmer and Sam Smith winning 3-0 but Harrogate 3's Ian Cooksley winning the third-string game, also 3-0. A nice early supper in that one!
Ilkley 1 drop to second place after losing for the first time this campaign, 9-3 at home to fourth-placed Otley 3 in the 'Moor-Chevin derby'.
Into Division Four and Collingham 5 are the fourth side to have won every game thus far, their fourth straight triumph coming in a top-of-the-table duel with Ilkley 3, thanks to Michael Odling-Smee's thrilling deciding win - 9-7 in the fifth - at No.1 string.
Adel 5 sit in third place, Alan Johnson and Nigel Lister winning at two and three to render the metronomic Simon Child's 3-0 triumph against Jaz Panesar at No.1 a mere footnote.
Bottom of the entire pile are Harrogate 4, their 9-3 loss at Aireborough 2 the latest demoralising chapter in their winless campaign.
There's a week off next week for half-term, but we'll all meet again the following week when the world's greatest squash league returns to our calendars.
