Harlow 1 are the early pace-setters in Kall Kwik Harrogate League Division One after a 3-0 rout of Otley 1.
Only third string Steve Smith dropped games for Harlow, whose 12-2 triumph means they lead second-placed local rivals Harrogate by two points. They beat newly-promoted Aireborough 1, also 3-0, although each match was closely contested.
Chapel A 1 sit in third after a 2-1 victory in the derby with Chapel A 2, in which Phil Young's 3-2 win over young buck Paul Allen proved crucial.
In Division 2, the online table shows Chapel A 5 top, although the mathematics may need adjusting slightly as Harrogate 2 conceded just a single game in their win over new boys Dunnington. Chapel A 5 beat Collingham 3-0, but conceded five games along the way in what were three scrappy opening-day encounters.
Last season's Division 2 title winners, Chapel A 4, won another 'Chapel A derby', beating the 6ths 3-1 thanks to 3-0 victories for Bobby Pearson and Mark Taylor. James Steingold won a five-game scrap with Simon Studholme to earn three points that may prove vital in March in their relegation scrap!!
Newly-promoted Otley 2 and Skipton were the night's other winners in Division 2, with tight victories over Collingham 2 and Adel 2 respectively.
Into Division 3 and, at the time of writing, only Ilkley 1 and Otley 3 had entered results. Their haste is perhaps unsurprising, as both teams won to get their seasons off to a strong start.
Division 4's reduction to eight teams means their season doesn't get under way until next week.
